Frankie crashed in both races this past weekend. He wasn't injured but that's why his score comes up the way it does. He has a two year contract with Jensen so he'll be racing for at least that long.
About the whole acting thing. I guess I look at it another way. Frankie has been acting since he was at least 8 years old and in movies since he was 11. In a sense, acting is all he knows and all he's ever done. Earlier this year, I believe he found himself at a crossroads. The show he had pretty much grown up on was coming to a close, which I can only imagine how difficult that must have been for all the cast. Spending nearly 7 years of your life, especially when you're only 20, with the same people and at one job, to leave it, must be a very scary and overwhelming experience.
I think he realized that he was soon going to be beginning another chapter in his life. And while he's young enough to do it, I think he wanted to take on something fun and different and also something that he may never have the chance to do again in his life if he put it off to do another movie or TV role.
I don't know about anyone else who is over 20 but when I was 20 years old, I didn't know what I wanted to do with my life. I was undecided about my future and where I wanted to be 5 years from then. In truth, I don't think anyone should have to have it set in stone what they want to do for their permanent career at 20. Try new things, take chances, go against the norm. Life's too short to just take whatever comes down the pike, in Frankie's case, the next film that comes along.
As odd, to me, as Parental Guidance Suggested sounds for a film role choice for Frankie, perhaps he took that role as a favor to a friend, or because it's something he believed in, for whatever reason. Just because it sounds strange to me, doesn't mean it sounds weird or an odd career choice to him. I believe he, as should all young people, should do whatever they feel is the right thing to do in their hearts. At the end of the day, it's only ourselves who we have to answer to and if one can't say to themselves that they did their best and tried their hardest and chose projects and jobs that mean something to them, then we're not being honest with ourselves.
That said, I believe Frankie will return to acting in the not too distant future. As it is now, his next two film roles which are already completed, will be released in 2007 and I'd venture a guess that he'll have another film role scheduled or at least announced before the end of 2006.
Anyway, that's my two cents on this topic.
